MAN 2002 Plan

Public Awareness Campaign – Cramer-Krasselt will once again create, produce and manage a state-wide public awareness campaign. This year we plan to work closely with one of our community partners, Employers Against Domestic Violence (EADV) to expand our campaign to include an employee awareness piece through EADV member corporations. Harkins Theaters has once again agreed to partner with us.

Outreach Campaign — The Outreach Committee plans to expand their efforts beyond speaking before civic and business organizations to include church groups, education groups and high school students. This committee will work with the policy committee on their 2002 initiative.

Educating our children initiative — Our Policy Committee will be working closely with M.A.N. advisor Superintendent of Public Instruction Jaime Molera to develop an initiative to reach our children in the schools about domestic violence. The team will be exploring the best way to use M.A.N. resources to impact children.

Lobbying — Our legislative committee met with our community partners to determine which pieces of legislation M.A.N. should support, advocate and lobby for. Several issues that came out of our 2001 policy summit will be the focus including technology to complete a state-wide comprehensive criminal history database and maintaining the current level of probation services.

Policymaker education — Our advisors in the offender treatment and victims advocacy area will be joining forces to develop and present information on domestic violence to city, county and state policymakers.

Offender Treatment policy recommendations — M.A.N. has brought together a group of professionals in the offender treatment area from around the state to develop specific state-wide policy recommendations relating to the criminal justice system, legislation, research, coordination and education. These recommendations will be presented to the Governor's Commission for Prevention of Family Violence.

Cross-disciplinary training — Another issue that emerged from our Summit was the need for all disciplines including judges, probation officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, law enforcement, victims' advocates and offender treatment providers to come together for training and an opportunity to explore policy changes.
