How to Clean a Truxed Soft Tonneau Truck Cover

Soft truxedo tonneau truck covers are an affordable way to keep your truck bed and cargo protected from harsh elements.  Their flexibility allows you to store large or small cargos on your truck bed with virtually no problem at all.  Apart from that, it gives your truck a clean and sleek look while saving you gas mileage by 10%.  But dirt and grime can compromise the luster of your soft tonneau cover and will eventually lead to its wear and tear.  Cleaning your soft tonneau truck cover will ensure that it looks good as new for a very long time.

Soft tonneau covers like the truxedo lo pro qt does not require any special cleaners.  It can be washed off with mild soap and cool, clean water.  All you need are some microfiber rags, a garden hose and some soft bristled brushes.  The best place to wash your soft tonneau covers is in a shaded area like in a garage or under a large tree.  First off, you need to rinse the cover thoroughly with a garden hose to spray off any grime.  Make sure that the entire area is covered with water and clear of any debris before brushing.

Next, grab a bucket of filled with a solution of cool, clean water and mild car soap.  You can get a mild car soap in the nearest auto supplies retailer in your area or online.  Start scrubbing the surface with a soft-bristled brush.  You can use a brush with a long handle for hard to reach areas.  For really tough stains, you can use a hand brush with boar’s hair bristles to remove them.  It’s gentle enough not to scratch your truxedo tonneau but can effectively remove stains.  After scrubbing, spray the cover again with the garden hose to rinse.

After rinsing, you can grab a soft, microfiber towel to dry off your tonneau.  Pat it dry so as not to scratch the delicate surface.  You can also use a tonneau protectant to give your vinyl tonneau cover with a layer of protection and to give it some sheen.  Just spray a generous amount on your soft tonneau cover and wipe dry.  For vinyl tonneau covers like truxport, you must steer clear of citrus, silicone or petroleum based protectants as these could damage the surface of your tonneau cover.  Opt for water-based vinyl tonneau cover protectants like the Truxedo Pro-Tex.
