Over the years Baptist Organization had launched many activities and various projects to finance church missions. Their missions are to provide basic education, health care and cancer treatment. Across the globe, Baptist churches are very active in helping humanities displaced by war and conflicts, community service, cancer patients, elderly care and books/bible giving. At times, Church funds became inappropriate so by doing fund raising projects is an acceptable fact. Another way is by doing musical event, concert or selling memorabilia in order to raise funds. For example, the Baptist Cancer Services is part of the Baptist Health System based in Jackson, Mississippi, had launched a multi-million dollar campaign for Cancer patients. It was kicked off in 2003 participated by then US President George Bush and wife Barbara attended a luncheon to benefit the Baptist Cancer Services. Through this fund-raising campaign the Baptist Cancer Services had opened cancer patients’ facility and additional lodging space to accommodate patients and families living outside Jackson area. This will provide housing accommodation to the families of the cancer patient and the ease of travelling each day for treatment.
Additional amounts they can collect will be put to the development and other facilities to further accommodate patients need during their stay in the Cancer Center. While in 2004, Baptist provided a whooping 204 million dollars to finance community care programs such as charity care, unpaid patients’ hospital billings, health fairs and other educational events. Baptist Memorial Health Care member hospitals conduct free screening for blood pressure and fasting blood sugar exam.
The Baptist member hospital is closely in coordinated with the local commerce industry in their respective communities to support charitable institutions, adopt-a school program, feeding center, mobile health care unit, housing programs and disaster- calamity relief assistance. The non denominational churches in Lexington KY promotes volunteerism. Volunteer works are also accepted in over 50 different Baptist hospital departments. They welcome willing hearts to donate their time and moral support to the Baptist hospital patients.
